Edwin Ogenio: Love your neighbor

Edwin Ogenio says, we must trust God to help us show love to those we do not feel love for, since Godly love is not something we feel, but something we do. In order to become perfect in this area of our lives, or in other words become like Jesus Christ, we need to allow God to groom us in character, holiness, maturity, and love. This is a process, just as we expect behaviors to develop in people, from baby-stage to a child, to teenager and adult. How fast we grow in unconditionally loving others, depends on our stage of spiritual development, believes Edwin Ogenio.

Edwin Ogenio believes that becoming perfect in love for everybody, does not mean that we will not fail at times, but that we are willing to admit our wrong doings, and continue to allow God to correct, heal, restore, and mature us. We then learn more and more how to tap into, and receive God’s love for ourselves and our neighbor! Edwin Ogenio says that our neighbor is anyone of any race or social background who is in need, and love means acting to meet the person’s need. There is never a good reason for refusing to help.Another aspect of loving your neighbor is that we should not lie or be critical to each other, because it disrupts unity, as it creates conflicts and destroys trust, adds Edwin Ogenio. Edwin Ogenio believes, we need to examine our attitudes and actions toward others; our neighbor. Do we build people up, instead of tearing them down by criticizing and condemning them? Saying something positive and beneficial to others, will cure us from constant fault-finding in them, and increase our ability to obey God’s law of love! In conclusion Edwin Ogenio adds, let us finish with a powerful saying that comes directly from the mouth of Jesus Himself:

Do for others what you would like them to do for you. This is a summary of all that is taught in the law and the prophets. Matt 7:12 NLT

Edwin Ogenio: The Attractive Church

Edwin Ogenio’s experience over the last years is that many are longing and looking for the kind of lifestyle these believer had. The world is tired of organized religion without genuine love and power. Onlookers want to see TRUTH manifesting through Christians, like it says in John 13:35 “By this all will know that you are My disciples if you have love for one another.”

Edwin Ogenio says that a great example of how the church has become is found in the book of Revelations where God exhorts and confronts the loveless church: “I know all the things you do. I have seen your hard work and your patient endurance. I know you don’t tolerate evil people. You have examined the claims of those who say they are apostles but are not. You have discovered they are liars. You have patiently suffered for me without quitting. But I have this complaint against you. You don’t love me or each other as you did at first! Look how far you have fallen from your first love! Turn back to me again and work as you did at first.”
Rev 2:2-5 NLT

Edwin Ogenio: This is in contrast to the faithful church in Revelation 3:9 where God says about the people: “Look! I will force those who belong to Satan - those liars who say they are Jews but are not - to come and bow down at your feet. They will acknowledge that you are the ones I love.”
Rev 3:9 NLT

Edwin Ogenio believes, it is because of our genuine love and faithful commitment to God and to one another that even unbelievers will be attracted and ultimately will worship the Lord.

Edwin Ogenio cites: “There are three things that will endure - faith, hope, and love - and the greatest of these is love.” 1. Cor 13:13 NLT

Edwin Ogenio - Finances study

Edwin Ogenio

Edwin Ogenio believes that this word will be of a tremendous blessing and encouragement to you. Edwin Ogenio prays that you humbly allow God to speak and minister to you in the areas of your life that He points out, in order for Him to remove those obstacles that hinder the flow of His blessings.Edwin Ogenio:”So many Christians now a days struggle with lack of money. Many are loving and good people, and now they are finding themselves battling the lack of finances, and are crying out for God’s help. In the midst of all of this, the Devil is keen to want to deceive God’s people with false promises, scams, and formulas of how to get rich quick. In total desperation, not able to hear and receive clear direction from God, many resort to wrong actions.”Edwin Ogenio explains: ” For example, they try to buy a financial blessing or breakthrough from God, by giving their offerings, and in doing so, causing them to sin against Him.”

“We desperately need God’s help!” - says Edwin Ogenio. However, there is indeed only one formula that we can go by, and that is this:

Your heavenly Father already knows all your needs, and he will give you all you need from day to day if you live for Him and make the Kingdom of God your primary concern. Matt 6:32-33 NLT

Edwin Ogenio explains: “In other words, if we seek God first, He will definitely answer us!”

If you need wisdom - if you want to know what God wants you to do - ask Him, and he will gladly tell you. He will not resent your asking. James 1:5 NLT

Now, God answers everybody individually, and not everybody gets the same answer or instruction. Therefore, when it comes to God’s personal answer to us, there is no universal formula we have to follow, only that what God has specifically designated for us to do in obedience to Him. It seems to Edwin Ogenio that God many times allows our financial flow to be stopped, in order to get our full attention. It’s His way of saying: “I’ve got something you need to take care of, in order for Me and you, to move on to the next level of My glory and blessings.”

Let Edwin Ogenio gives you some examples. Could it be that God is saying any of the following points to you?

1. He is testing your faith whether you love Him regardless what you go through, like He did with the Israelites in the desert by the time He withheld food and water from them.
And you shall remember that the LORD your God led you all the way these forty years in the wilderness, to humble you and test you, to know what was in your heart, whether you would keep His commandments or not. Deut 8:2 NKJV

2. Maybe He is saying to you that there is a curse on your finances because of idol worshipping (people, possessions, career, or even money, has become more important than the love for God.)
Be careful to obey all the commands I give you; show love to the LORD your God by walking in his ways and clinging to him. Deut 11:22-23 NLT

Edwin Ogenio : Marriage and Devorce

Edwin Ogenio

With the emphasis on “for God has joined them together”, Edwin Ogenio believes that what God puts together in a covenant between Him and the man and woman, no one is able to separate.

However, it’s obvious that not all relationships are put together from God! Sometimes God will give us what we want only to show us that it doesn’t work. Many times we marry out of our own desires and needs and God allows us to do so. Let Ogenio illustrates with a story about the Israelites who desperately wanted a king as they said to the Prophet Samuel: “Give us a king like all the other Nations have” (1. Sam. 8:5 NLT). Israel at that time was ruled by judges and one of them was the Prophet Samuel who appointed his two sons as successors since he was getting older. The leaders of Israel were discontent with the abilities of Samuel’s two sons and thought to themselves that having a king would be the perfect solution for their need, even though it wasn’t God’s original intention. Ultimately God told the Prophet Samuel to give the Israelites the king they desired and to warn them what kind of abusive and demanding person this king would be, by saying: “When that day comes, you will beg for relief from this king you are demanding, but the Lord will not help you”. (1. Sam. 8:18 NLT). But even so, they refused to listen and still wanted a king. So the Prophet Samuel went ahead and anointed Saul to become the king of Israel.
(See 1. Sam. 10:1)

Edwin Ogenio:”Many times we get into relationships from motives that do not come from the perfect choice of God. We have our own personal reasons for stubbornly moving ahead with the relationship and ignoring the warning signals, thinking that we ultimately know what is better for us, just like the Israelites.Edwin Ogenio says: Many times, a few years down the road, when the relationship has grown sour and dysfunctional and even abusive, we find God waiting, since He knew all along that we were setting ourselves up for disaster and would need His rescue in the end when we “beg for relief”".

Edwin Ogenio tells: “Remember also that the Israelites were under a generational curse, in the sense that they had been under captivity of Pharao for over 400 years, and had now the mentality of bondage and had settled for the little they could get during their captivity. This mentality caused them to “desire” what was “familiar” to them.”Also Edwin Ogenio added: ”So many times, we can see how people choose to go on a certain path when it comes to relationships, standard of living, and how they treat themselves and others, without even knowing that they are choosing what they are familiar with without examining other options. A generational curse will cause a person to remain in a certain mindset and lifestyle and therefore producing the same as what they came from.”

Edwin Ogenio continues:”As was predicted, King Saul’s reign became a source of problems even though God gave him many victories over his enemies. He was more concerned about protecting his own reputation and the praise of the people than pleasing God. Along with a demonic bad temper Saul couldn’t hide his jealous nature. Therefore he was more than willing to compromise and disobey God’s instructions, blaming others for his failures and wasn’t willing to genuinely admit any wrong doing. This prompted the Prophet Samuel to tell him: “Obedience is far better than sacrifice. Listening to him is much better than offering the fat of rams. Rebellion is as bad as the sin of witchcraft, and stubbornness is as bad as worshipping idols. So because you have rejected the word of the Lord, He has rejected you from being king.” 1. Sam. 15:22-23 NLT. Samuel continued by saying to King Saul: “See? The Lord has torn the kingdom of Israel from you today and has given it to someone else - one who is better than you”. 1. Sam. 15:28 NLT.”

Note by Edwin Ogenio : God did not reject King Saul as a person but brought an end to this counterfeit covenant after many years of reign.
